Background

Tapper Funeral Services are a family owned company established in 1904 with funeral homes across Dorset and Hampshire.

In 2017, they opened an entirely new crematorium at Harbour View, their woodland burial ground at Lytchett Minster. This spectacular building was built to a stunning contemporary design using local craftsmen and materials, and enjoys a peaceful, rural setting with far-reaching views over Poole Harbour and the Purbeck hills.

The Challenge

To communicate to those needing to arrange a funeral service or those considering a prepaid funeral plan that there is a new, contemporary and uplifting alternative to the established crematoria in the area.

Our Approach

Working closely with the client, we refined the proposition and established the key points of difference when compared to the existing crematoria.

We then developed a communications plan to create awareness and deliver this proposition consistently across various media channels. These included local press, lifestyle magazines, outdoor, door-to-door leaflet distribution, TV advertising and PPC.

The Results

The crematorium at Harbour View has proved immensely popular since its opening. It is now well established as the contemporary alternative to the council-run crematoria. The popularity of Harbour View is such that it is also being used by families from well outside the core catchment area. Despite the popularity of Harbour View, the Tapper family have been careful to preserve the precious peaceful, rural atmosphere and unhurried pace of funerals.

"We have worked with Summerhouse since 2011 and over that time they have produced and managed marketing campaigns for TV, outdoor, press and magazines. They are always proactive, creative and easy to work with."
